Esports action never seems to stop, and at the moment there is another competition taking place in China, and we have some LPL 2022 Summer betting picks on this weekendâs matches.
Seventeen of the top LOL teams from across the world are competing at the Summer LPL, with the likes of Royal Never Give Up and Edward Gaming two of the star attractions.
Similar to the LPL Spring competition, this is a bit of a marathon. All 17 teams will compete in a round-robin format, with the top 10 qualifying for the playoffs.
The 17 teams taking part are Anyoneâs Legend, Bilibili Gaming, EDward Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, Invictus Gaming, JD Gaming, LGD Gaming, LNG Esports, Oh My God, Rare Atom, Royal Never Give Up, Team WE, ThunderTalk Gaming, Top Esports, Ultra Prime, Victory Five, and Weibo Gaming.
All in all, the competition started on June 10th and will run until August 14th.

The In-Form Teams
JD Gaming has started the competition on absolute fire. The Chinese team has a 6-0 record, and they currently sit top of the table. They currently have a 75% win rate, with a 12-4 maps record.
Despite being king of the hill, JD doesnât have the best percentage record. That goes to Victory Five who have won a whopping 91% of maps played. The Shenzhen-based team has only played 5 matches but has a 10-1 maps record.
And itâs with Victory Five where we start our Esports picks for Friday when they take on the Anyoneâs Legend in the second game of the day.
Anyoneâs Legend v Victory Five
Moneyline
- Anyoneâs Legend +350
- Victory Five -600
Handicap
- Anyoneâs Legend (+1.5 Maps) +100
- Victory Five (-1.5 Maps) -138
Total Maps
- Over 2.5 +137
- Under 2.5 -188
Itâs quite clear from the odds available from the best Esports betting sites that this isnât a bet on who wins the match, it is more of a bet on whether Anyoneâs Legend can win one map or not. Odds of -600 on the Moneyline make it impossible to wager on V5, so itâs either the handicap market or the total maps market.
If you think that Anyoneâs Legend is going to win a map, then it makes more sense to back over 2.5 maps. In taking that option though, you are running the risk of losing should Anyoneâs Legend win 2-0. The chances of that happening are fairly slim though. Even if they do manage to steal a map, the chances are they will still lose the game. So your wager should be safe.
- When; Friday, July 1st, 2022

Iâm finding it difficult to see Anyoneâs Legend getting anything though. In fairness, they do have an okay record at this competition so far, having won three and lost two. But on closer inspection, they have a maps record of 6-5, and a winning streak of one.
I canât be giving AL any chance and therefore make Victory Five on the handicap my first pick of the weekendâs action.

LNG Esports v LGD Gaming
Moneyline
- LNG Esports -600
- LGD Gaming +350
Handicap
- LNG Esports (-1.5 Maps) -138
- LGD Gaming (+1.5 Maps) +100
Total Maps
- Over 2.5 +137
- Under 2.5 -188
This match-up sees LNG with their 3-2 record face off against LGD with their 1-3 record. Reputations may be coming in front of form here, as neither side has been doing well.
Although in fairness, LNG Esports did start their first three games well, as they won them all back-to-back. Included in those victories was a 2-1 win over Bilibili Gaming in week 1. Then in week 2, they defeated AL 2-0 and then beat ThunderTalk 2-1.
In week 3, LNG was defeated two maps to one by OMG, and then they opened week 4 with another defeat, this time a more understandable loss, 2-0 at the hands of Top Esports.
- When; Saturday, July 2nd, 2022
- Time; 2.45 am ET
The match against LGD on Saturday gives âLittle Qilinâ the chance to get their campaign back on track.
As for LGD, theyâve had just one win from their four matches. That was a 2-1 victory over Anyoneâs Legend in week 3. In their three defeats, theyâve managed to win just one map. Bizarrely, that was against table-topping JD Gaming in week 1.
So what needs to be decided here is does the odds reflect the two teams fairly? Looking at their respective records so far here, itâs hard to be wagering on a team in LNGâs form at -600, thatâs for sure. If it comes down to a straight choice between betting on that and no bet, then itâs no bet!
But what about the handicap and or the total maps markets? Well, I think the value bet here has to be on over 2.5 maps. Yes, it wouldnât shock me to see LGD Gaming lose 2-0. Nothing would shock me in this match.
But over 2.5 maps look the value wager and therefore is my betting pick for the match between LNG Esports and LGD Gaming.
